Rodents in southern Oregon are known to be carriers for bubonic plague, and the pamphlet given to all visitors upon entering Crater Lake National Park explicitly warns people not to touch the rodents. And yet I saw a man petting the following chipmunk-like creature:

so.. should we rent a car when we are in portland?
Crater Lake is a five hour drive from Portland, and by the end of October, some of the roads in the park will be shut down because of snow. If we go to Crater Lake when you and Mark visit me, then that will be the only thing we can do that weekend.
